Do you want the taste of smoked meat but don’t have one of those fancy smokers? Well, I have a recipe for you using simple equipment and ingredients you already have in your home: Tea Smoked Pork Chops.
I made this for our monthly Crazy Ingredient Challenge post. Each month the bloggers in the CIC vote on two ingredients to use together in a dish, then we all post and share on the same day. Be sure to scroll below the recipe to see what the other bloggers made. This month we chose limes and black tea.
As soon as I saw black tea as one of the choices, I knew right away this was what I was going to make because I have been meaning to try it for awhile. I could have made it with chicken or fish, but chose boneless pork chops because that was the only thing in the freezer. You want to choose something boneless and flat for quick and easy cooking.
This recipe is ridiculously easy to pull together, but you have to have two things in order to make it.
First is aluminum foil to line the pan. Unless you are in the market for a new pan.
Second is a strong vent fan. The smoke mixture produces a lot of smoke (go figure!) and unless you enjoy hearing your smoke detector going off repeatedly, you need a fan. Otherwise, consider doing this on the grill outside.
Otherwise, this is just a matter of marinating the meat, tossing the smoke ingredients in the pan and smoking until the meat has a nice brown smoked look and the meat is done.
Until next time, happy eating.
