Happiness is Homemade Strawberries, Milkshakes and Lemon Cake

July 14, 2019 Filed Under: Desserts, Fruit

I know I am late to my own party. Little brother came to visit me and we spent the week visiting the nearest place to where mom’s ashes were scattered:

And cooking up a storm. If you have never had a chef in your home, be warned, they do not know how to cook for 3-4 people. The mac and cheese was made with 2 pounds of pasta plus 2 pounds of cheese. Plus he made fried catfish with homemade cocktail and tartar sauces, kohlrabi slaw (recipe  coming on Tuesday’s blog), barbecue ribs, the best chex mix ever and taught his nephew to make pineapple upside down cake like our dad used to make.

In case you missed it, I posted this amazing Slow Cooker Blood Orange Chicken recipe this week:

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #279

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #279!  I hope you enjoyed last week’s party and my features – I really enjoyed Pinning so many of the awesome posts our bloggers had to share!

Now that my kids have been out of school for a solid two weeks, I’m trying to come up with ideas and projects to keep them occupied.  We’re also doing quite a bit of traveling to visit family out of town.

How has your summer been so far?

Are you ready to check out my featured posts?  Without further ado…

This week’s features for Happiness Is Homemade #279

Check out this INCREDIBLE looking Lemon Ombre Layer Cake with Lemon Curd Filling from Bird’s Party – I love lemon in the summer and I think ombre is such a beautiful effect!

Do you have some pavers or perhaps brick that need updating?  Check out this DIY Painted Brick Pavers project from So Much Better With Age – I think it takes a floor to the next level!

Sooooooooo we just picked 30 lbs. of strawberries last week – yeah that’s a lot, I know.  I kept about 4 lbs. fresh in the refrigerator for a few quick baking treats and the rest directly into the freezer for making FREEZER JAM later on.  BUT just in case I need another idea, how about these 100 Strawberry Recipes from Attachment Mummy to use as a reference – I can’t be the only one out there with all those berries to use!
One of my favorite popsicles from when I was a kid was the orange creamsicle, so I HAD to feature this Over the Top Orange Creamsicle Milkshake recipe from Food Wine Sunshine.  It looks SOOOOOOOOOO refreshing and dreamy!
I love having pretty lighting around my patio to enjoy in the evening.  This DIY Wooden Lanterns with Solar Lights from Kippi At Home would be a great project for practicing using power tools.
Please check out my 5 featured posts and leave a comment – bloggers love it when you leave feedback!  Be sure to also Pin, Share or bookmark any posts you are interested in so you can reference them later.

Thanks for hosting! This week I am bringing more goodness from my home to your table. A delicious Blue Cheese Cole Slaw kicks off the list. Then a Three Color Pasta Salad salad for a cold light summer lunch. To round off the menu is a simple but delicious Creamy Grape Salad that Grandma used to make! Enjoy!
