cream cheese

almond extract

nuts
(finely chopped)

Maraschino cherries
(halved)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°.
Cream shortening and cheese together. Add sugar, egg and extract; mix thoroughly.
Sift dry ingredients together and stir into creamed mixture. Chill dough for about 30 minutes.
Form dough into 1-inch balls. Dip balls in nuts; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press a cherry half, cut side down, into center of each cookie.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until nuts are slightly toasted.
