5ounceelderflower liqueur (or blackberry, orange or other floral liqueur or syrup)
750milliliterbottle chilled Prosecco(or sparkling water for non-alcoholic)
fresh blackberries
sprigs of fresh basil
Instructions
In a small saucepan simmer blackberries, basil, honey, and water over medium heat until mixture is heated through and starts to thicken, about 4-5 minutes. Press on the blackberries while heating to release juices.
Strain mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove solids and set aside to cool.
Add 1 ounce of elderflower liqueur to each glass (champagne flutes work well) along with a tablespoon of the blackberry simple syrup.
Fill each glass with chilled Prosecco and garnish with 2-3 fresh blackberries and a sprig of fresh basil.
Notes
This recipe can be doubled or tripled for a party. The day before your party make an ice ring by filling a pan (round cake pan, bundt pan, angel food pan, etc.) with water and adding blackberries and basil sprigs and freeze solid. Invert and warm bottom of pan under hot water for a few seconds to remove. At party time, combine the simple syrup, elderflower liqueur and Prosecco in a punch bowl and add the ice ring.
