Mississippi Mud Pie is a rich creamy chocolate pie topped with whipped cream. No one needs to know how easy it is to make.
1prepared 8" pie crustgraham cracker, cookie crumb, or traditional pie crust
5ouncessemi sweet or dark chocolate baking bar
3tablespoonslight corn syrup
If using a traditional pie crust pre-bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees before filling.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Separate chocolate bar into 2 ounces and 3 ounces. Set aside the 2 ounces. Chop the 3 ounces.
In a microwaveable bowl add 3 ounces of chocolate, butter and syrup. Microwave for 20 seconds, stir to melt the ingredients. If not completely melted microwave again at 10 second intervals until melted.
In a medium bowl beat eggs, add sugar, vanilla and chocolate mixture. Pour into pie crust.
Bake for 30 -40 minutes until filling is set.
Remove from oven and let cool completely. Top with whipped cream.
Use a vegetable peeler to shave the remaining chocolate on top of the pie.
