Make your holiday meals special with these Brown Sugar Spiced Sweet Potatoes. Warm spices and brown sugar combine for a delightful holiday side dish.
I am not a big fan of that sugar laden marshmallow topped sweet potato casserole. I prefer my dessert after the meal.
Plus, I grew up with these amazing Brown Sugar Spiced Sweet Potatoes for Thanksgiving. Slightly sweet and loaded with aromatic spices like cinnamon and ginger, it complements the rest of a holiday meal beautifully.
But ,there is no need to wait for the holidays to serve it. It only takes about 30 minutes to prepare, so it can even be made for a weeknight meal.
How to Make Sweet Potato Casserole Ahead
Prepping a holiday meal can be chaotic. Chopping and prepping all of the dishes and timing them to all be done at the same time takes plenty of planning.
By making dishes ahead, at least partially, you will save yourself some of the hassle at meal time.
To make these ahead of time: boil the potatoes and mix everything in the casserole dish, cover and refrigerate. While the turkey or ham is resting pop it in the oven to heat.
Here are some more Thanksgiving recipes you can prepare ahead of time to make the main meal easier.

We never had sweet potatoes (or green bean casserole for that matter) on our Thanksgiving table when I was growing up, mostly because of the marshmallows! These sound so much better.
