Who doesn't love a rich, decadent slice of chocolatey goodness? Chocolate Lovers are going to love Mississippi Mud Pie. And best of all it is so easy to whip up at home with basic pantry ingredients.
So grab a fork and get ready to indulge in the deliciousness of Mississippi Mud Pie.

Forget that boxed pudding mix made pie filling. This one is just as easy and tastes a million times better. You can still use a premade crust and whipped cream if you want, I won't tell.
Like most recipes, the actual origins of Mississippi Mud Pie are a bit murky. The best guess is it was developed in the US South, with the name derived from the thick filling's resemblance to the mud of the Mississippi River.
The first time I made it, my husband took the entire pie and a fork and disappeared. When he brought the empty dish back he informed me the recipe was "a keeper".

So you husband downed a whole pie. Now I don't feel so bad about the 1/4 key lime pie I ate Friday for breakfast! But I can see why he did it--looks great (and you're so right about homemade often being just as easy)!
