Peanut Butter Popcorn is a simple delicious snack made with popcorn, peanut butter powder, butter and your choice of salt or sugar... or maybe both!

Are you ready to take plain popcorn to the next level of snacking enjoyment? Introducing Peanut Butter Popcorn - a delightful blend of smooth and nutty flavors that will have your taste buds dancing. And it is easy to make it salty or sweet, or have the best of both worlds and combine the two.

Forget plain old butter and salt - this is the new king of the snack world. So grab a bowl and get ready for a snacking experience like no other.

bowl of popcorn with air popper

I love popcorn! Sweet, salty, cheesy, oh yum! Yes, I buy bags of microwave popcorn, but I will also use our air popper that my son picked up at a garage sale when he was 8.

Since I found a bag of powdered peanut butter in the pantry I thought I'd give it a try. Mmmmm! good choice!

    What is Powdered Peanut Butter?

Powdered Peanut Butter is a bit of a misnomer. It is actually roasted peanuts that have the oil squeezed out and then are ground into the powder. Some genius at a peanut oil company probably looked at the peanut waste after processing and thought "how can we make money on that?"

Anyway, since they call it powdered peanut butter I am going with that here.

There are several name brands like PB Fit and PB2 (some examples on Amazon). Mine is from the bulk bins at Winco.

    Peanut Butter Popcorn Ingredients

Some people are going to panic when they see the amounts below are not exact. THIS IS POPCORN, DON'T OVERTHINK IT. Make it how you like it, some days you might want a light coating and some days you may want loads of it.

    • popped popcorn - make it however you want, stovetop, microwave or air popped
    • butter or coconut oil - you could use popcorn oil as well, you just need something to make the powder stick.
    • peanut butter powder - explained above
    • salt - to taste, optional if you want it just sweet
    • powdered sugar - or powdered sugar substitute, optional for sweet flavored

You could also go wild and make salty sweet and add BOTH salt and sugar.

And if you want to go over the top, drizzle some melted chocolate and top for that classic PB chocolate combination.

bowl of popcorn with air popper

    Recipe

    Print Recipe Pin Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 6-8 cups popped popcorn
    • 2-4 tablespoons melted butter, coconut oil, or popcorn oil
    • 2-4 tablespoons peanut butter powder
    • ½ teaspoon salt (optional)
    • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar or powdered sugar substitute (optional)

    Instructions

    • Pop you corn anyway you want: stove top, microwave, air popper, etc.
      6-8 cups popped popcorn
    • Spread out popped corn on a baking sheet and discard all unpopped kernels.
    • Drizzle the popcorn with the melted butter. I like to reserve half to add again after adding the seasoning. Toss the popcorn to get the kernels well coated.
2-4 tablespoons melted butter, coconut oil, or popcorn oil
    • For savory: combine the peanut butter powder with salt in a small bowl
For sweet: combine the peanut butter powder with sugar in a small bowl.
2-4 tablespoons peanut butter powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar or powdered sugar substitute
    • Sprinkle the peanut butter powder over the buttered popcorn and toss to combine. I like to drizzle the reserved butter over it again at this point to get everything to stick on nicely.
    • Serve in 6-8 serving bowls with 1 cup each ... Who am I kidding? dump it into a big bowl and enjoy!
