Are you looking for an easy change up to traditional brownies? Look no further than a batch of deliciously indulgent Dr. Pepper brownies. These decadent treats combine the classic flavors of rich chocolate and the iconic soda, creating a unique and irresistible dessert experience.
Get ready to satisfy your cravings and impress your taste buds with this mouthwatering fusion of flavors.

Chocolate brownies don't need help, they are amazing in their own right. But, if you wanted to add some variety to your brownie repertoire, try adding some soda (or "pop" or "soda pop" depending on where you live).
Even if you aren't a huge fan of drinking soda, adding a little to the brownies adds a nice depth of flavor. As a matter of fact, my guys didn't even know what I had put in the brownies, they just devoured them.
Instead of Dr. Pepper you could also use root beer, or cola or just about any flavor you like. Do not use diet sodas' though; many artificial sweeteners will break down in the heat and can leave a bad aftertaste.
Ingredients for Dr. Pepper Brownies
The ingredients in these are pretty basic brownie ingredients:
- butter
- chocolate and cocoa
- brown sugar (way better than white sugar in brownies!)
- flour
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- baking soda
- salt
- pecans or walnuts (optional)
But this recipe also adds two special ingredients for more flavor:
- instant coffee
- Dr. Pepper
Hear me out. You only add a little bit of each and they enhance the flavor of the chocolate so the brownies just taste chocolatey with a little something extra.
The coffee deepens the chocolate flavor and the soda adds extra flavors like vanilla, cherry, caramel and a variety of spices.
Nuts or No Nuts in Brownies?
If you do not like nuts in your brownies... DON'T ADD THEM. It's just that simple.
I am team nuts, especially pecans! My husband is team no-nuts. So, I will add them to the top of half the brownies so we each get what we like.
