Classic Southern Brown Sugar Pie with an added layer of dark chocolate chips to make this decadent rich pie even more amazing.

Attention all dessert lovers and sugar fiends: get ready to indulge in a sweet treat like no other. Imagine a warm, gooey slice of pie, oozing with melted chocolate and caramelized brown sugar, all nestled in a flaky, buttery crust. Are you drooling yet?

Well, get your taste buds ready because we're diving into the delicious world of Chocolate Chip Brown Sugar Pie.

Read on to learn how easy this southern classic pie is to make.

brown sugar pie with chocolate chips and a cup of brown sugar

This recipe takes the classic Brown Sugar Pie to new levels of chocolate deliciousness with the simple addition of some chocolate chips. If you just want the classic recipe sans chocolate, simply leave out the chocolate.

Not only are the ingredients basic pantry fare, but it couldn't be simpler to put this pie together, especially if you use a premade crust.

Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Brown Sugar Pie

You probably already have all of the ingredients for this pie in your house, including making the crust from scratch if desired.

    • brown sugar (light or dark)
    • butter
    • flour
    • eggs
    • vanilla
    • chocolate chips
    • single layer pie crust (flour, shortening or butter, salt)

Using dark brown sugar will give the filling more molasses flavor. Most recipes use light brown sugar instead.

I like to use dark chocolate chips for this because the filling is already sweet enough, but if you prefer semi sweet, or that's all you have, then use them instead.

    Ingredients

    • 1ΒΌ cups brown sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 teaspoons real vanilla
    • 3 tablespoons flour
    • ΒΌ cup butter (melted)
    • 4 ounces dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 unbaked pie crust

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 350℉.Β
    • Line a pie pan with the pie crust. Decorate edging as desired.
[optional] Place pie pan on a baking sheet to make moving in and out of oven easier.
    • In a mixing bowl, beat together remaining ingredients, except chocolate chips for 2 minutes.
    • Stir in chocolate chips and pour into pie crust.
    • Bake 40-50 minutes at 350℉. Cover the crust with some aluminum foil part way through baking if it browns too quickly.Β The center may be a bit gooey when done, but it should look set it will continue to cook when removed from the oven.

    Notes

Use your favorite single crust pie crust for this recipe. This is my favorite recipe.
