Looking for a fun way to reinvent leftover spaghetti? Turn it into a pie... Spaghetti Pie that is.
This kid favorite dish starts with the basic ingredients for spaghetti and meat sauce and combines it with the cheesy goodness of a baked pasta dish. It may take a little extra time to bake, but your family will love it.
Read on to learn how easy and delicious it is.

Yes, this recipe takes a simple dish and makes it more complicated. Spaghetti and Meat Sauce is a marvelous meal. Boil pasta, open up a jar of sauce and done. You could go the extra step and make this easy meat sauce.
But, the presentation of Spaghetti Pie is fun, and it is easier to assemble than other baked pastas like lasagna.
Hidden Vegetables or not
My teen often still attempts to eat vegetables but there is something in his autistic brain that won't allow it. He literally gags when he tries to put it in his mouth. You won't get any judgement from me if you need to sneak in extra nutrition when and where you can.
This recipe adds some grated carrots to the sauce. Add other grated vegetables (like zucchini), or puree them for a smoother, easier to hide, texture.
Or go bold and chop up some spinach or other greens if you have eaters that won't gag at the site of it.
Spaghetti Pie Ingredients
This recipe starts with cooked spaghetti. You can either "cook once, eat twice" by making double one night for one of the recipes below and making this another night or cook it specifically for this recipe.
- cooked spaghetti, vermicelli or linguini
- eggs
- cheese: parmesan, mozzarella and ricotta (or cottage cheese)
- ground beef, ground turkey, Italian sausage (or meat substitute)
- marinara sauce, any flavor (see note below)
- carrots, onions, garlic
- olive oil
If you don't have any prepared pasta sauce, use canned tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes plus some extra seasonings (at least a tablespoon of Italian seasoning plus powdered garlic) and cook for another few minutes before assembling the pie.
