Sun Dried Tomato and Herb Scones are a buttery and flaky savory scone studded with sun dried tomatoes and fresh herbs. Enjoy at tea time, breakfast or along with your lunch or dinner.

Are you ready to try a buttery savory treat that's just at home on the breakfast table as it is a tea time?

Look no further than these mouth-watering Sun Dried Tomato Herb Scones. Packed with savory herbs and tangy sun dried tomatoes, these scones will leave your taste buds dancing and your stomach satisfied.

Scones are ridiculously easy to make. Basically, they are just biscuits with more cream and butter. Because, who doesn't need more cream and butter in their life. Okay, so they are not an "everyday food", even though you may want to eat them every day.

Normally I make sweet ones like Honey Lavender Scones, or Lemon Blueberry Scones or Maple Bacon Scones. But these savory ones were great for breakfast, snack and even along with dinner one night.

What type of Herbs to Use for Sun Dried Tomato Herb Scones?

Fresh is best in these. If you must use dried use about 2-3 teaspoons. Dried herbs have a more concentrated flavor than fresh so you need less.

I used fresh chives from my garden because my basil is only about an inch high right now and I wasn't in the mood for rosemary.

All three would be great individually or all together or any fresh herbs you'd like.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 4 tablespoons cold butter
    • ΒΌ cup sun dried tomatoes (chopped)
    • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (basil, chives, oregano, rosemary, etc (finely chopped))
    • β…” cups heavy cream

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 350℉.
    • Combine flour, salt, baking powder and sugar in a medium bowl.
    • Cut in the butter and mix until crumbly. Mix in tomatoes and herbs.
    • Add the cream and stir until just combined.
    • On a floured board press dough into a rectangle shape about Β½" thick. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife cut into 8 rectangles, then cut those rectangles in half to form 16 triangles.
    • Transfer to baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until just turning golden brown.

    Until next time, happy eating!

It was either chives or rosemary since the other herbs aren't up in my garden yet. I really do need to use chives more.
