Cool and Crunchy Asian Celery Salad is a Simple Side Dish

Celery Sesame Salad is a simple and refreshing salad for a hot day. Great side dish for barbecues and Chinese food.

When I noticed an almost full head of celery in the fridge my mind immediately went to this recipe for Sesame Celery Salad. Ma'am used to make it when we were kids both in the "too hot to cook" summer time and as a great side dish, particularly with Asian cuisine.

It takes very little time and effort to make, but just note that it should sit for about an hour to let all of the flavors meld together. Super simple and delicious.

    Ingredients

    • 1 head celery
    • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
    • sesame seeds (for garnish)

    Instructions

    • Wash the celery and cut into 1 inch diagonal slices. Put in large sauce pan, cover with cold water. Bring to a boil. Drain immediately and cover with ice water until completely cooled.
    • Mix remaining ingredients together, pour over celery and stir well. Refrigerate for about 1 hour and serve cold.

Your salad sounds so good! I make a very similar salad with cabbage, but I never thought to use celery. I'll have to try this. Thanks for the recipe and for the link-up.
