Easy and addicting Clam Dip recipe loaded with plenty of garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Serve with chips or vegetables or fill a bread bowl. Your guests will be raving about it!

Are you looking for a new dip recipe to wow your guests. This flavor packed Clam Dip is just the ticket. Made with easy to find ingredients, you can make it ahead of time to make entertaining easier.

Your guests will love it with chips, veggies, or in a bread bowl.

Read on to learn how simple and flavorful this Clam Dip can be.

clam dip in a bowl with chips

When one of my oldest and dearest friends posted she was going to miss the family holiday, her family quickly replied that her signature Clam Dip would be missed. Ha ha! Well, you know I had to beg for any recipe that produces a reaction like that. Luckily, Shan was quick to oblige me.

Like most dip recipes, this Clam Dip is incredibly simple to make and it definitely benefits from being made ahead of time. Consider the 1 hour below a bare minimum. If you are serving it for a party, make it the night before.

    Can you use fresh clams?

If you've got them, by all means use them! While most of us would just be going for the convenience of canned, you can enjoy the extra fresh flavor and texture. Instead of thinning with the excess clam juice, use a little milk if needed.

    Ingredients for Clam Dip

Every ingredient can be found at your local grocery store.

    • chopped clams (look in the canned seafood aisle)
    • cream cheese
    • sour cream
    • fresh garlic cloves, yes fresh is best
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • freshly ground pepper

For serving choose between potato or tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or a bread bowl with bread dippers.

The amounts below are a general guideline. Adjust them to your tastes. If I am serving this to my family, it would be 5 cloves of garlic, but I'd only use half of that for my husband and son.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cans chopped clams (6.5 ounce size)
    • 2 packages cream cheese (8 ounce size)
    • 2-3 tablespoons sour cream
    • 3-5 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
    • Worcestershire sauce (to taste)
    • pepper (to taste)

    Instructions

    • Drain 2 cans of clams. Drain the final can BUT reserve the juice from this can for thinning the dip.
      3 cans chopped clams
    • In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, 2 or 3 cloves chopped garlic and a few tablespoons of sour cream. Thin to desired consistency with clam juice and a little extra sour cream. Make the dip thin enough the chip won't break but not soupy.
2 packages cream cheese, 2-3 tablespoons sour cream, 3-5 cloves garlic
    • Add a few splashes of Worcestershire sauce and some freshly ground black pepper.
      Worcestershire sauce, pepper
    • Fold in the chopped clams gently so they do not completely fall apart.
    • Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Add more chopped garlic, Worcestershire and pepper as needed.

Audrey, my Caramelized Onion Dip is #127, and I had to come check out your clam dip because I'm really into dip this week! You cracked me up, so I have to admit that *I* "may or may not have" eaten a huge amount of this dip by myself! 😀 So don't get me started on a batch of clam dip!
