Take your Halloween party spread on a deliciously spooky turn with these easy glazed Bat Wings. Use whole chicken wings and a simple but delicious homemade sauce to create this fun recipe.
Marinate overnight and then bake up in 30 minutes for a fun and festive treat.

Halloween in my neighborhood is like a huge block party. Some of our neighbors start setting up their elaborate displays in September. Since we are in California, the weather is usually nice enough many of us sit outside and party together.
People from other areas of town drive their kids to our neighborhood just to trick or treat. Last year I gave out between 3-400 pieces of candy, one each, and was out by 7:30pm. Which is why we will be going dark this year. After 21 years I need a break.
Instead I will make some fun Halloween themed foods like these wings.
Where to Buy Whole Chicken Wings
For the ultimate "bat wing" effect you want to use whole chicken wings with tips attached. These are no longer easy to find in the meat department of typical grocery stores.
You have a few options:
- do an online search for places that may carry them near you
- search Get Real Chicken for a farmer near you
- ask the butcher at your local grocery store
While it may not be as fun, you can use cut chicken wing pieces as well. After all, Halloween is about the imagination.
Ingredients for Spooky Bat Wings
While the whole wings may be a challenge to find, most of the ingredients should be in the Asian aisle of a well stocked grocery store.
- soy sauce - we use low sodium tamari in our house
- black bean sauce
- oyster sauce
- brown sugar
- black gel food coloring - optional
Note: The black gel food coloring is not those tubes of writing gel for writing on the tops of cakes. Gel food coloring adds a richer deeper color than the liquid coloring. You can find them in places like Michaels, Target, maybe WalMart or online.
